On a field work trip we encountered Atlantic White-Sided dolphins. We used our hydrophone – a specialized microphone for the water – to listen and record the sounds of the dolphins We were lucky to hear the beautiful whistles of the dolphinsListening and recording sounds from marine mammals helps us better understand how the different species communicate and behave! These recording can also give an insight to the amount of noise pollution these animals must endure on a daily basis. This could be anything from boat noise to seismic activityThis noise can cause disorientation, confusion and make it difficult for the animals to communicate with one another. Follow if you would like to learn more about marine mammals, marine mammal research and the marine mammals found in the Vestfjord/Bodø, Norway area!🐋🦭#marinemammals #marinemammalresearch #research #fieldwork #norway
